Book Synopsis
We were a nation born of the people, by the people, and for the people. But our road to freedom was a rocky treacherous path, fraught with obstacles, pitfalls, and detours. Steel is hardened in fire. Soldiers are forged in battle. Leaders are made in crises. Prior to COVID-19, we took all outbreaks of disease seriously but we took them in stride. But something changed, we changed when we were confronted with COVID-19.
Draconian measures were forced on our citizens. Neighbors turned against neighbors, family against family. They closed our Churches. Politicians enforced their edicts with Gestapo like tactics. The freedom that patriots fought and died for had been summarily stripped away. Two hundred forty-four years of history and progress had been eradicated in a matter of weeks. And We, the people, allowed it to happen.
We had become lazy and soft. We had insulated our children from pain and suffering while insulating them also from responsibility and self-reliance and the opportunity to become caring, self-sufficient, and productive adults. We wanted to live in a world free of risks. We were willing to let others die as long as we could live a little longer. The mighty roar of the Lion has been replaced by the bleat of the submissive lambs.
