Book Synopsis
Holiness lies at the very heart of the Christian life. It is
not something optional reserved for a select few, nor is it a
secondary matter that may be safely neglected. Holiness
is the great end for which God saves His people. The
Scriptures powerfully declare, “Be ye holy; for I am
holy.” Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord.
In every generation, the church faces the temptation
to diminish this truth. There is a constant pull toward a
form of Christianity that seeks the blessings of salvation
without the transforming power of sancti!cation. Holi‐
ness is the missing ingredient in much of the contempo‐
rary church. Professing Christians are more concerned

about being happy than they are about being holy. Men
desire forgiveness, but are careless about purity. They
long for heaven, while forsaking the path of holiness that
leads to it. Modern compromised, humanistic religion,
however appealing, is not the religion of the historic
Christian church.
