Book Synopsis
When I consider the Great Commission in Matthew
28:19–20, I believe we must all ask ourselves an impor‐
tant question: Is this a mission impossible? Did our risen
Lord command us to do something we could never
reasonably expect to accomplish? Or should we instead
conclude that, because Jesus has crushed the head of the
serpent, bound him with the gospel chain, sent us the
Holy Spirit, given us the power of the Word of God, and
declared that all authority in heaven and on earth
belongs to Him, He has fully equipped us to go forth and
disciple the nations? He has promised to build His
church, and He has assured us that the gates of hell will
not prevail against it. Again and again in Scripture, we
are told that Christ’s church will be victorious. In light of
these truths, should we not believe that the Great
Commission is not Mission Impossible, but Mission
Possible? The answer should be clear to every one of us.
