Book Synopsis
Dr. Rodney W. Lancaster’s book comparing student-centered and teacher-centered learning approaches in one alternative learning environment was a research study conducted for his doctoral dissertation. Administrators, teachers, and parents should read this research to understand the complexities of varying learning styles by students. Leaders at the high school level need to remember how their students’ meta-cognition (thinking about their thinking) affects classroom learning. Additionally, this research addressed how changing the classroom environment nurtured independence skills, leadership, and social growth.
