The life of a 1947 Kaiser Special is depicted in four separate novellas, which span 64 years. 1946: Eddie Whitaker and his family travel to Florida for Christmas in his father’s brand new car. One disaster after the other, makes them wonder if they’ll make it to Grandma’s by Christmas day. 1964: Clark Dean buys his first car and endures the first rites of passage toward adulthood as he contemplates his future with the woman he loves and the end of the world. 1987: Martha Fletcher moves into an old house in the city to find an abandoned car in the garage. She is reluctant to get rid of it because she’s convinced the spirit of the former owner dwells in it. 2010: Steven Bradbury is looking for just the right restoration project to celebrate the third anniversary of his custom restoration shop. Things go wrong when he senses trouble in his home life.
