Book Synopsis
The author of the book is the prophet Nahum, his name means comfort or comforter. Most likely his prophecy took place between 663BC and 654BC sometime after the fall of NO-Ammon (Thebes) to the Assyrians and before its restoration.
Nahum’s prophecy is to Nineveh the capital city of the Assyrian Empire. The message deals with the coming destruction of Nineveh.
Nahum’s prophecies against Nineveh took place approximately 100 years after Jonah’s preaching and about 50 years before Nineveh’s destruction.
The book of Nahum is a sequel to the book of Jonah.
