WORSHIP FORMS AND FUNCTION

Jesus said... "God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). Today the so-called worship wars rage between those who prefer traditional or contemporary worship styles. High church liturgies are sometimes perceived as dead ritualism, whereas contemporary worship is seen as shallow emotionalism. Both mischaracterizations, however, fail to see a greater point. Worship involves both form and function, structure and attitude of the heart. The author seeks to encourage readers to understand and experience worship in all its dynamics and beauty and above all give glory to the Father, in the Son, by the Holy Spirit.
