Wire Down

This is the story of the author and his family, and the thousands who worked on the E. Clemens Horst Company Hop Ranch. The story parallels the documented history of events on the ranch that impacted the author’s life and the lives of residents in the small town of Independence, Oregon.

Interwoven throughout the story are never seen before photographs from the author’s family archives, along with other historical photographs. The narrative roughly follows the chronological sequence of raising hops from early spring planting through the end of harvest in September.
