Phil was born and raised on the family farm. After high school he tried his hand at farming but felt more strongly called into the ministry. He graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY with majors in Psychology and Bible and from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio with a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate in Ministry with an emphasis on counseling and marital relations. He has been a pastor in the United Methodist Church for over four decades. Along with his wife Carol they enjoy their children and grandchildren among the beautiful hillsides of Pennsylvania.
