Book Synopsis
This novel sets out as historical mystery set in 1927, in a tiny village called Point Regis, on the southern shore of Lake Erie, Ohio. It’s a small, isolated lakeside community with a marina, an inn, a covered bridge, and a lighthouse on a nearby island. The story centers around Caroline Willaby, a woman who recently died under suspicious circumstances.
The mystery kicks off when James Farrahi, a detective from southern Ohio, receives a cryptic letter from Caroline asking for help. He travels to Point Regis, only to find she’s already dead.
It’s a story that really explores loneliness, power, corruption, and the hidden darkness that can exist even in the smallest communities and it’s a powerful narrative that invites us to consider how appearances can deceive and how communities can harbor dark secrets.
