Book Synopsis
The Holsinger family in the United States started by Rudolph Holsinger (Holtzinger) and his wife Magdalena Meyer Holsinger when they emigrated from Alsace-Lorraine, France to Pennsylvania. Rudolph Holsinger was by oral tradition was born in the Black Hills of Germany. I contacted someone who could look into the records, and it was found that Rudolph had stated that he was born in Switzerland, the birth record found for Rudoph Holsinger was found in Basel, Basel-Stadt, Cantons, Bas-Rhin, Switzerland, which are in the Black Forest and at times, the area was a part of the German empire. Basel, Basel-Stadt, Cantons, Bas-Rhin, Switzerland, borders Germany (Baden-Württemberg) and France.
He married his wife Magdalena Meyer in Alsace-Lorraine according to the marriage record and certainly their emigration record substantiates the marriage record.
The book covers not only the Holsinger family but also their spouses’ lineages. With the help of Ancestry.com and Family search and many distant cousins that have posted on these sites, I was able to gather the information needed for so many of our ancestorial lines.
