Book Synopsis
THE EFFRONTERY BOOK OF DRINKERY
Liquid Pidgin Recipes from The Effrontery Lodge Bar — The World's Most Exclusive Bar and Restaurant
Somewhere past the last charted reef, beyond every island your GPS refuses to acknowledge, sits a stone hermitage where a very particular kind of hospitality has been perfected for generations. You are not invited. You have not passed the entrance exam. But this book will let you drink like you did.
Over 250 recipes — cocktails, punches, grogs, flaming coffees, and a few concoctions no sober bartender would attempt — collected from a legendary lost-island lodge and its cast of unforgettable characters: Pidgin cooks, shipwrecked colonials, a Pagan Progenitor named Father Inebrias, and a tiny bartending legend called PingPong. Alongside the classics — Singapore Slings, Mai Tais, Hot Buttered Rums — you'll find drinks that could only exist here: The Tahitian Asshole. The Suffering Book Bastard. The Devil's Jizz Sizzle. Recipes that come with instructions like set aflame and serve with a side of poutine.
This is a drink book with a swagger and a wink — equal parts vintage tiki bible, unhinged travelogue, and satirical fever dream, narrated by editors who take their cocktails a great deal more seriously than they take good taste. It doesn't just tell you what goes in the shaker; it tells you why you should be drinking it, who you're allowed to serve it to, and what kind of person you'll need to be to earn a seat at the table.
Equal parts drinking manual and literary artifact, The Effrontery Book of Drinkery is for the home bartender who wants their punch bowl to come with a backstory — and isn't afraid of a little effrontery along the way.
Mix responsibly. Read irresponsibly.
