Book Synopsis
The Day the Letters had Their say is a fun way to learn the "why" behind the phonics rules. It is easier to remember a rule when there is a good reason for it. The reasoning in this book may not be totally accurate - but it sure will be easy to remember. For instance, why do you change the "i" to a "y" when adding "es" to baby? Y loves being at the end of a word, but hates to be squished by a suffix. So come along with your child and join the letters in court as they work out the spelling rules with Judge Webster. On a side note - this book is not meant to be read all at once. Just a few pages a day or even once a week will suffice. The letters tackle the rules one at a time, and so should you.
