Book Synopsis
In 1912 Ethel Robison leaves her comfortable home in St. Thomas, Ontario to brave the unknown on the other side of the country. In her boarding house in Calgary, Alberta, where she works as a seamstress, she meets and falls in love with Iowa farm boy, Ray Robison. They become one of the first settler families on the bald prairie of what would become Chinook, Alberta. They start building their lives together and have three beautiful daughters. But while the girls are still young tragedy strikes and is followed by more tragedies and the dirt and hunger of the Great Depression. The Robisons face their challenges with hard work and unique family relationships and together get through it, simply because they must.

This is a true story of the author’s own great grandmother and great great grandparents. It is written as historical fiction but packed with family photos and historical documents.
