Book Synopsis
All the experts say we are the product of our environments. One can argue yay or nay. I don’t need to argue. I know what my answer is… now, with the passage of time and much needed reflection.
She Sails is my story. It chronicles my time in the military—the good, the bad, the traumatic, the triumphant, and everything in between. Part cautionary tale, part heroic journey, these words—my words—are my truth, my bond, and a long-fought signal that I can take pride in what I’ve overcome and hold my head high.
The military helped shape me at the same time traumatic incidents, racism, extreme duress, depression, and a multitude of other factors tried to break me.
It’s my hope that my journey will help someone else know they’re not alone, will inspire them to reach out for help if they need it, will encourage them to keep moving forward, and will provide some comfort through difficult times. This is not an anti-military book. I served with honor and pride and that will go with me to my grav
