Book Synopsis
“Reared Against the Sky; The Boys of 1984” is a true story about my high school football coach who was a first time, head coach that used the dangerous practice of rationing water while soaring to a championship. However, the journey had life altering consequences as one of my teammates dropped face first onto the practice field and almost succumbed to the effects of heat stroke. While open criticism ensued about my coach’s disciplinary techniques and coaching style, no one can deny his ability for taking mediocre kids from the mountains and turning them into champions.

Fast forward, 30+ years and this coach has become one of the most winningest high school football coaches in California history and is still coaching today. My story is not only a tribute to this special coach but to my teammates; the boys of 1984.

Reared against the sky is not only a good read but an uplifting real life story. A none fiction story that depicts an energy that helps define character building for todays young people.
I hope other kids jr high and up are able to read this book. It may inspire a passion within to jump start a mind set that todays youth is so lacking.
