Book Synopsis
Reaching Out With A Church Recreation Program
Kim Elliott, Retired Parks and Recreation Director
God would like for us to live a life full of Joy. We can do that by living a life full of serving Him. What this means is a life full of everything that we do is for God. We do this in work, worship, love and play. Play, or our leisure time can be an important part of giving God our daily life! As stewards of God, we are concerned with the wise use of our time, and that includes leisure time. We normally consider our leisure time as our recreational time.
What is the Church doing to help people in this area? It is important for the Church to help others to use all of their time wisely. Sometimes it feels like our churches have a tendency to ignore our time away from work, worship, and love. We do these three areas for God. It makes sense for churches to also provide Christ centered recreation/leisure programs. The author provides thoughts on how churches can help in this area.
We don’t know everything about Heaven. But…maybe the angels play soccer or basketball. Wouldn’t that be a game to watch? Maybe the angels might play their version of checkers or chess. Maybe they have their version of track and field and compete with others to see who can fly the fastest from one star system to another and back!
We really do not know! However, maybe the angels sit in the gallery and cheer for us as we play a Christ centered game! On earth…or in Heaven!
