Book Synopsis
A compilation of more than 1,100 news accounts from 1814-2014 featuring the Murphy family pioneers who migrated from Virginia and settled in Morgan County, Ohio. More than 2,500 descendants are featured in items that include obituaries, birth, wedding and human interest stories as well as historical accounts of schools, churches, wills and land deeds. The items are transcribed as they were originally published and sorted in chronological order. A footnote at the end of each item includes how the main subject is connected to the family along with a tag identifying the pioneer family connection. Through these published accounts and genealogical links, readers will gain insight into this vast family who today have migrated across the country, forming a collective Murphy Nation that mirrors the industrious, hard-working ethic of their pioneer ancestors: William and Susan Murphy and their children: Rebecca, John, Thomas, Sarah, Isaac, Susanna, Hannah, Lydia, William Fletcher and Joseph.
