Book Synopsis
This manual has been prepared to assist water utility management and operation personnel in developing and implementing a distribution main flushing and cleaning program.
The Distribution Main Flushing & Cleaning Handbook speaks directly to drinking water distribution system operators and supervisors who are most likely to plan and implement a flushing program. As such, the authors write in “second person,” commonly using “you” and “your” to directly address the reader. While this practice strays from “proper English” third-person writing style, our desire is to connect in a personal way to the system operators who may get the most benefit from this field manual.
This field guide is organized in the following sections:
• Section 1 – Introduction
• Section 2 – Equipment & Supplies
• Section 3 – Program Planning
• Section 4 – Field Operations
• Section 5 – Frequently Asked Questions
