Book Synopsis
Just a week into the Korean War, then-Lieutenant Catharine “Kitty” Wilson, at that time stationed at a medical facility in Japan, received orders to report to the 8055th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, later the model for the fictional 4077th MASH in the long-running television series. Over the tumultuous course of the next six months she accompanied the troops from the beseiged “Pusan Perimeter” all the way to Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, and back again. This, in letters to her “dear ones at home,” is the story of that eventful tour of duty.
