Book Synopsis
The inspiration for this book came to me after a week-long camping trip I took with my peers at Florida School of the Arts to Horn Island, a small, deserted island off the coast of Mississippi. I had never really been camping before or even felt a particular affinity for nature in general. Being on Horn Island, miles away from any semblance of civilization, was the first time I was ever truly alone in the world. Maybe not alone in the world, but alone with the world. Without the distractions of modern life and the incessant, thought-killing buzz of my phone, I had time to exist in my head. I thought a lot about our connection to the world at large. Now, when I go to the beach, I make sure to find a place to stand where I can see no one in my field of view to try to recapture that feeling. This is the feeling that I wanted to share with the people.
Bummy and the Wind put simply, is about trying to find what is most important in life.

I just bought this book online and may officially be the very first purchaser. I am anxious to discover new perspectives of how to search for what is most important in life and will begin my journey as soon as my new book arrives in the mail.

Being an educator, this book could be used as a powerful tool to teach figurative language, symbolism, imagery and other literary concepts to young readers. I also think teenagers would relate easily to the ideas presented in this book and explore the symbolism embedded throughout the pages. It contains absolutely beautiful art work and very sophisticated literary devices. I highly recommend this book. The art work is truly amazing as well!
