Book Synopsis
The title of this book, Building Cathedrals: An Eschatology of
Postmillennial Hope, was chosen deliberately. Throughout
history, great cathedrals were not built by men who expected
immediate results. They labored with the con#dence that future
generations would complete and enjoy what they had begun.
They laid one stone upon another, believing that their work
would endure long after they were gone. In much the same way,
Christians are called to labor faithfully for the advancement of
Christ’s kingdom, knowing that God is accomplishing His eternal
purposes through the preaching of the gospel, the making of disci‐
ples, and the transformation of nations.
The postmillennial view of eschatology teaches that Jesus Christ is
reigning right now as King of kings and Lord of lords. His reign is
not merely a future hope; it is a present reality. When our Lord
gave the Great Commission, He revealed His purpose to bring the
nations under His gracious rule through the proclamation
