Running away from her parents' home at the age of six, Jane finds a home with her grandparents, who set her on the path to a become the mother she never had and to have a career she never could have imagined. A Life of Homes is a story of hope and survival. A triumph of the human spirit.

Jane relates in clear and evocative prose the progression of a confusing and disruptive early childhood, to the stability and discipline of her grandparents’ home and then, the succession of houses where through the vicissitudes of adulthood, she raised her own children. As a heroine’s journey, “A Life of Homes” is an inspiration.

Excellent book! I was one of Jane’s neighbors on Magnolia St in Pasadena. I also came from an alcoholic home; mine was a cake walk compared to Jane’s. I thought I knew her story until I read her book; what a true survivor looks like. What a brave gal to put that story out.
