Being and Power, Volume II. consists of essays, mostly book reviews, written since Volume I. Due to illness the book is necessarily abbreviated, fewer drawings and less editing.

Volume I. covers the period 1944 - 1971, Northern Michigan growing up, three years in the army, a year in a Milwaukee factory, the absolute life-changing, liberation of art school, self study, various day jobs, an 8 month trip to Europe (Paris, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Canary Islands, ship to Mexico, hitch clear across the country to Northern Michigan) and enrolling in the art department at Northern Michigan University, where Vol. II. takes over.

Interwoven with this chronicle, as in my life, is an attempt to pierce the fog, to seize, articulate and experience the recurring intuition that essential self stands outside the temporal illusion of physical reality. Tending this long awakening, I sometimes see myself as a primitive, emerging occasionally from the primordial muck for a brief glimpse, astonished at the miracle of being. Another aspect brought forth from this writing is the marvelous workings of memory. Soapbox I. is a collection of political cartoons from the years 1974 - 2020, covering the subjects of social justice, environmental damage, nuclear madness, both power and weapons, racism, sexism... in a word, folly. It comes in two volumes, one of horizontal and one of vertical orientation.

Soapbox II. is mostly strips but cover the same ground as volume I., social justice, environmental crisis, nuclear madness, racism, sexism, homophobia, religious fanaticism... the usual folly.
