This is the story of my McDonnel grandparents and their family. It is told mainly through the writings of my grandmother, Anna (Newlin) McDonnel, her youngest daughter, Dorothea (McDonnel) Jones, and my mother, Margaret (McDonnel) Coleman.

This is a history of the ancestors and relatives of my mother’s family. Margaret Ann (McDonnel) Coleman was the eleventh child of Lucius Ellsworth “Elzie” McDonnel from Mercer County, Ohio and Anna Mae “Annie” (Newlin) McDonnel from Orange County, Indiana. The Hamilton name in the title is Elzie’s mother, Ida Melvina (Hamilton) McDonnel. The Moore name is Annie’s mother, Permelia Adeline (Moore) Newlin. I have been collecting bits and pieces of our McDonnel Family history for a long time, and I wanted to share what I found with the rest of the family. Aunt Dorothea agreed to be my co-author and we combined what I had collected with her research and family memories.
