In my current work, I feel that one of the strongest influences for me is the Impressionists. Their work is all about color and light. They would go out into the fields, harbors, or gardens and paint alla prima to quickly capture the light's effect on the environment and how it changed the colors. They wanted to paint the light before it disappeared. Monet's Rouen Cathedral series is a good example.
