A Treasury of Ten Short Stories is the work of 2016-2017 Challenge B students of Classical Conversations of Evansville. These stories were written during their second semester while they studied the elements of a story.

The students of the Classical Conversations homeschool group have written their own short stories. Their collective efforts have been bound into this book.

It seems only fitting that the class that met in the Library loved stories. From the very first day we met they liked them—liked to tell them, hear them, and even (I found out) liked to write them. For a long time, I had to tell them, “No more stories! We must do our lessons.” Finally, the lessons became short stories, and the short stories became our lessons. I loved to hear their stories, probably as much as they liked to tell them. The Class in the Library no longer meets every Monday at Hickory Valley Baptist Church. You are in for a treat! The short stories included in this anthology represent the culmination of a semester long study of some of the greatest short stories ever written. Challenge B students are trained to write their own stories by studying the geniuses of the genre. Widely varied authors such as Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Charles Dickens and Fyodor Dostoevsky serve as a motley crew of master mentors for these spunky scholars. Prepare to be amazed, intrigued and even enlightened as you delve into these four fictitious fables.
