A great teaching aid! The book was written open enough that the teacher or student can apply the concepts found in it in many different ways and to any drum set configuration. It can also be used at all levels. This book was written to help drum students learn the skills necessary to developed and create Drum fills and solos by working with basic rhythms written for the snare drum and then applying those rhythms to the drum set. Also included is a section using accent patterns and bounced notes.
End of Twilight - Marimba Solo Mark Ewell

$11.86
Size: 8.5" x 11"
Binding: Spiral Bound
I wrote “End of Twilight” throughout my Sophomore year of college. The very title “End of Twilight” implies the end of darkness. This is symbolic of the fear a child has of the dark and night time. The piece begins in a beautiful chorale as a sort of lullabye before bedtime, however, the piece then becomes dark as the night sets in and the piece tells the frightening story throughout the night eventually leading to the end, the end of twilight.

Marching Techniques & Exercises for Drum Line Mark Ewell
Books with a 0 star rating(0)
$39.95
Size: 8.5" x 11"
Binding: Spiral Bound
The percussion section is ignored or is not given enough attention too many times in developing programs to high competition ensembles. For this reason, it is also often the most misunderstood from instructors and as a result, players. Thus, I have compiled this book of exercises and techniques as a one-stop source of information for the use of instructors and young developing drumlines. The exercises and techniques contained in this collection will also vastly help serious experienced drumlines extensively. "Learning is a journey with no destination."

I wrote “Whirlwind” in February of my freshman year of college. It was my first ever Percussion solo piece and my first time writing specifically for percussion. It is meant to be played fast and very loud. Special attention to dynamics should be observed including very extreme loud and very extreme quiet sections. Without careful attention to dynamics and a certain amount of expressiveness, the piece can become repetitive. However, with extreme dynamic contrast and expressive playing, the piece comes to life. I invite you to make the piece your own and take liberty in use of the repeated sections. The name of the piece is symbolic of the way in which it was written. This piece came toge ...
