I have discovered that while much has been documented in finite details about hitting (Charlie Lau, Walt Hriniak, Ted Williams), and pitching (Rick Peterson, Mike Marshall, Bill Thurston), there is little to take catchers to that level. I have attempted to go to that level, beyond Catcher 101... the “graduate level”. It assumes that you have a foundation of catching knowledge on which to build. You have had success and want to improve. Some of these techniques are somewhat different from what you may be doing so they take time and practice to master; BUT they will make you better!

“Catching4Kids – small targets” is a primer for young catchers to perform, get better... build a foundation to expand, improve and grow. As the catcher improves, as the competition increases, more techniques can be added, expanding the catcher's scope based on need and ability. I suggest that baseball/ softball organizations (little leagues, rec councils, amateur groups) adopt this as a standard for teaching their young catchers; ages from 6-7 to 12 (and up). In doing so, you have an instructional path for your catchers and have provided the tools for your coaches.

MICAH The true story of a young man who glorified God in life and death. At the age of 15, Micah Ramsey was athletic, bright, well-liked, hard-working, and a devoted Christian. Upon returning from a mission trip on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana, Micah was diagnosed with a “train-wreck” of a cancer called “Ewing’s Sarcoma.” Walk through Micah’s journey as his true story is told by his mom, and be inspired by his life. As you peer into this young man’s life you will be encouraged. Micah’s response to his apparent “death sentence” was, “We as human beings were created by God to worship and glorify Him. It is what we are designed to do. God also has had a plan for us si ...

On October 23, 2015, twenty young-at-heart old-timers from boroughs across the nation converged on Phoenix, Arizona to play baseball for veteran manager Pat Thompson’s St. Paul Saints in the 2015 MSBL World Series. Seven days and eight dominating victories later, they humbly held the 65+ Central Division championship trophy and were being fitted for commemorative rings they had earned the old-fashioned way. This is the story of the 2015 St. Paul Saints – an assemblage of very good baseball players, and an even better group of men, teammates, husbands, fathers, and grandfathers. A Band of Brothers. A Ring of Saints.
