Felipe's idyllic life in 1518 Cuba is shattered when Hernan Cortes rides into it. There have been two failed attempts to explore and conquer the lands to the west of Cuba. Cortes has been appointed to lead the next expedition. He has a plan to succeed where his predecessors failed, a secret weapon: Horses. Horses are unknown in the New World. They are scarce in Cuba, and Cortes is desperate to acquire all he can get. Felipe's father has a stallion, Majesty, but he refuses to sell.
