Breaking Through is written in two parts. The first part, "Internal Controls," explains how we are in control of how we think, and if we change how we think our actions and outcomes will be different. Part two talks about "External Controls," those forces that we have no control over. This section of the book talks about the many challenges and obstacles that is beyond our control, yet, I talk about how we must adjust our mind-set in order to be able to overcome those challenges. My experiences are no different than the average black male who has experienced incarceration. The only difference is how I did not allow my past to define who I could become. I broke through those barriers.
