This book doesn’t need to be read from cover to cover to be entertaining. You can read it for ten minutes or an hour and put it down without fear of losing its flow because it doesn’t have one. There are around 100 entries, and each one tells a different story or presents a thought. Some people may conclude the author has stepped away from his rocker, and they have a valid point because some of the entries will make no sense to a sane person, never-the-less, if you are tolerant and patient, some of the things between the covers of this book will hopefully keep you from being bored.

This is the first of a planned series of short-stories and poems that focus on life in the U.P.; family issues, religion and reflection, nature and relationships. "The Story of Phil the Accountant" is the first illustrated book in the Adult Bedtime Stories collection. It is a very common story about how many people get caught up in occupations and careers which they have little to no care or passion for but pretty much just stick around for the money. The main character, Phil, is an accountant and he realizes that his 9-5 job just isn't doing it for him anymore. He convinces himself that he will leave and take on a new career which he had always been more passionate about...writing.

When going on a trip, there are many factors, including where to go, where to stay, and how long the trip will be. Everyone always says, 'have a safe trip', but what if this time it wasn't? For Malcolm and his longtime friends who just wanted to get away for a week, strange things start happening. Each day they are at this mysterious town, one of his friends seem to go missing, only to be taken to a hospital of an unknown location. As they tried to find out what happened to their friends, the townspeople refused to answer any of their questions. The only thing the townspeople seemed to talk about was this annual festival. No details were given about the festival until it was too late.
