Book Synopsis
“To Make a Short Story Long” is a collection of short, real life, stories and poems with a biblical perspective that can be applied to everyday life situations. Jessica wrote down these memories in an effort to cope with the sudden loss of her little brother. Putting her memories on paper and searching for God’s perspective within those memories, helped her with the extreme struggles of the grief process. She never had to deal with a loss so devastating. Even as a Christian, the loss of a loved one, and the pain that comes with it, is very real. This was something she did not understand until it was thrust upon her. She still has unanswered questions and struggles on occasion with anger towards God and others for letting this happen. She felt guilty, blamed herself, and was sure there was something she could have done. She feels a piece of her is gone and knows it won’t “fix” until she is reunited with him in glory. With insight from God's word, she knows burdens can be lightened as we lean on Christ in moments of sorrow and pain. It is her prayer, as she continues to journey through this grief process, that God refines her with it and that she not be defined by it. She truly hopes that others find comfort in the memories shared throughout this book.
