Three Passion Preludes for Organ

Three Passion Preludes by David Paul Werner are based on well-known chorale-tunes, appropriate for use during Lent, Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Good Friday. Each was inspired by specific Scripture:

– Bicinium on the Passion Chorale “O Sacred Head”, from the mocking torment described in Matthew 27:29-30.

– Canticle on “O Lamb of God Most Holy”, from the wondrous depiction of elders singing before the Lamb in Revelation 5:8-9.

– Prélude-Étude on “The King’s Majesty”, from the assuring yet fearsome prophesy of Isaiah 59:19-20.

They can be played with satisfying effect on a typical 2-manual church organ.

The book is saddle-stitched for easy page turning.
