Book Synopsis
Far to the north, in the frozen wastes of Polar Mars, lay the home of the sacred Holy Therns. Only John Carter dares to go there to find and rescue the love of his life, Dejah Thoris. But between him and his goal lay the bones of all who had gone before him forever strewn over this frozen Marian wasteland.
After the epic battle at the end of Edgar Rice Burroughs' The Gods of Mars, John Carter's wife and two other women are captured and imprisoned in a slowly rotating and seemingly inescapable prison cell attached to the Temple of the Sun. Through interrogation, John Carter discovers in his band a martian named Thurid who knows the secrets of this Temple. Once these secrets are revealed to the group, several Martian nations band together to rescue the Holy Thern's daughter Phaidor and Carter's wife Dejah Thoris. Like the other two books in the trilogy, the Warlord of Mars is a non-stop thrill ride that you will find difficult to put down.
