As the world becomes more and more independent and interrelated, the need to understand how to transform an effective leader to an effective global leader is now more important than ever. The researcher argues that leaders and followers must develop a mutual trust, and mutual respect. Further, mutual trust and respect require effective communication. And communication differs from culture to culture. Equally important, is the approach to conflict management which differs from culture to culture. Additionally, integrity and honesty is viewed differently in different cultures. To this end, this book highlights the elements required to transform an effective domestic leader to an effective global leader. It further posits, that cross-cultural, and country-specific cultural training is required prior to any international assignment. This book also highlights how different leaders have been unprepared when accepting a foreign assignment; and the leadership qualities that are preferred.
