Book Synopsis
“To dear Violet… May 4, 1912” So begins this illustrated book of autographs that
until its recent discovery, had been hidden away for more than one hundred years.

From 1912 until 1919, a girl named Violet filled its pages with a collection
of intriguing entries definitive of the Edwardian era in which she lived.
Privileged to cross paths with some very talented and influential artists of
her time, the book contains not only their autographs, but also their intimate
original drawings and paintings, proverbs, and cheeky greetings.

There are pages inscribed by Laura Knight, a member of The Royal Academy,
children’s book illustrator Lilian Govey, and esteemed actor Reginald Owen.
Moreover, it is the pages filled by unknown contributors—and perhaps even
Violet herself—who remain to be identified, their creativity given due credit.

The discovery of this journal presents us with a mystery, each illustrious entry
perhaps a clue to who she was and those who touched her genteel world.

This is a great journey to the past, filled with witty poems and nice art. Who are these people? I am intrigued and I want to know more.

It was a blast from the past, when and Autograph book was a part of growing up. I still have mine and felt this book brought out the dearness of relationships. It was pre-twitter way we lived. The author saw the value in sharing it.
