Book Synopsis
Several autobiographical stories of a young sailors most memorable experiences of intercontinental sailing in the early 1900's(~1904 to ~1930) in mainly wind only powered sailing ships, known as 'Wind-Jammers'. From the dangers of sailing Cape Horn, being an officer on a ship chartered for filming a 1920's movie, becoming a temporary surgeon at sea, the absurdness of the equator-crossing ceremony, somber tales of friends lost to sea, to the surprisingly harrowing tale of delivering a yacht from a seller in Pennsylvania, USA to the buyer in Florida.
Converted from a combination of loose personal handwritten and typewriter-typed papers into a format more suitable for reading. These stories provide a glimpse into the daily struggles, and pleasures, in the life of sailing before wireless communication, radar, and engine-driven boats became the norm.
