Book Synopsis
"Keeper's Allies" was written and illustrated by fifth graders at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont. It tells the story of the rescue, training, and success of their friend Keeper who now visits them regularly as a therapy dog. The themes of the book include allyship, greater understanding of the Deaf experience, and overcoming adversity. The book is part of their Global Youth Service Day project and all profits (about $10 per book) go to the USA Deaf Sports Federation, which supports Deaf athletes in international events such as the Deaflympics and Deaf World Championships. If you love Keeper's Allies, check out last year's class's book "Just Like Us" about Keeper's friend Mel, who is Deaf and a therapy dog herself!
