Book Synopsis
Edward Godfry Lawson, '14 of Cornell University was one of the first Masters of Landscape Architecture graduates in the nation's third professional program in lanndscape architecture. Lawson later became a much honored faculty at his alma matter from 1922 to 1942. Lawson distinguished himself as the first Rome Prize winner in Landscape Architecture 1915 at the American Academy in Rome. The Lawson book comprises a majority of Lawson works that are unpublished. Schnadelbach have spent two past summers at the American Academy researching topics in landscape architecture that have contributed to the formative years of this profession.

In the course of his research he became aware of the depth and unique material in the Academy's library - the works of Edward G. Lawson, through his photography and measured drawings of Italian gardens. These firsts in landscape architecture provides the beginnings of scholarly research in this profession.
