Book Synopsis
We welcome all who come to St. Anne to share in the worship of God. This liturgy book has been assembled to help in understanding the meaning and beauty of Orthodox worship. The text of the liturgy will generally be found on the right hand pages, with commentary on the left. Classes for newcomers to the Church are offered on a regular basis to answer deeper questions of Orthodox faith and practice. We pray God’s grace will be with all who come through our doors!
Worship in the Orthodox Church has remained relatively unchanged from its earliest centuries. Rich in symbol, it is one of the most profound demonstrations of the Christian faith in existence.
Christ taught, “Those who worship God must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth” (John 4:23). One of the meanings of the word
“Orthodox” is “right glory” or “right worship.” Orthodox worship is the clearest statement of Orthodox doctrine.
Humanity was created for fellowship with God. True worship is what that fellowship looks like.
