Book Synopsis
A verse by verse Commentary on the Book of Ezra.

It is believed by most Bible students that Ezra is the author of the book which bears his name. His great grandfather was Hilkiah who was the high priest during Josiah’s reign (Ezra 7:1; II Kings 22:8). Ezra’s priestly heritage can be traced back to Aaron (Ezra 7:1-5).
It is noteworthy that the last two verses of II Chronicles and the first few verses of Ezra are almost identical, which leads some to believe that it is possible that Ezra may have authored both books of Chronicles.
The book of Ezra deals with the return of the Jewish exiles to Jerusalem from Babylon, once their 70 years of captivity by Nebuchadnezzar had ended.
Four other books should be read in connection with the book of Ezra. (1) Nehemiah, (2) Haggai, (3) Zechariah, and (4) Esther. There were three official expeditions.....
