Book Synopsis
Major Charles Gilson (1878 - 1943) was a British officer and a popular author of science fiction, adventure stories, and historical fiction books about the Pygmies of the Upper Congo, among other groups. Gilson served in China after the Boxer Rebellion and depicted China and the Boxer Rebellion in some of his stories, featuring a Chinese detective in one of them. While dismissed today by modern taste dictators who anachronistically misapply current standards of political correctness to what are honest portrayals of the times they were written in, Gilson's stories depict the class, racial and imperialist milieu of the era he lived in.
