Book Synopsis
"A Comedy of Imbeciles" is a loving tribute to the rollicking, rip-roaring adventure pulps of the 1930s and 1940s, set against modern era current events. A mysterious assassin has come to Florida, attempting to end the life of our intrepid rustic Doyce Whisanant, and the subsequent drama embroils his rugged team of individualist ne'er-do-wells as the plot thickens and transports us all to the prehistoric environs of distant Tutoro Tamar! There, Doyce and his team face multiple threats from both personal and historical pasts, even as their beloved Republic back home falls under the sway of globalist fascism. Enjoy this penultimate episode in volume 21 of The Whisanant Mythos.

"This overly-long novel is a long-delayed tribute to the neglected South Pacific tribes collectively known as the Pygmies of Color, and paints a vivid picture of the societal woes which follow close upon home rule as administrated by the unsophisticated and dishonest peoples of the world. As the United States of America enters once more into its status as the world's premier banana republic in 2021, we may all take a lesson from the bitter humor with which it deliniates the collapse of the values and high standards of Western Civilization." --- The Journal of the Petulant Negro Coalition

"There is a portion of the book where he covers the Scientonomy religion - Being from Florida and knowing many Scientonomists and their theology these conclusions are laughable. Still... disorganized or not... it's Doyce Whisanant, and he's got a fan in me." -- Gonad Culture

"By occasionally sharp, yet mostly subtle turns personal, poignant, heartfelt and evocative like a piece of vintage progressive rock music, but also wide-ranging historically, sometimes downright transcendent, focused and serious. This damn thing is chock-full of aching self-reflection, yet with more than a few dashes of self-deprecating humor about a life spent tilting after unidentified windmills. Doyce Whisanant's wonderfully insensitive memoir hints at the stirrings of a rare realization that the all-too-human quest to 'know' the true face of whatever appears to be some 'other' 'thing' – and of Otherness herself – is, at its heart, the quest to know the true face of the seeker. Bravo, and welcome back to the ground you never left, fellow adventurer!" -- The Dementia Patient's Gazette
