A young man's wretched life is transformed when he enters a fancy store to buy a bar of soap. From the young woman who sells him the soap, he gets the soap and a job doing yard work for the woman and for her famous psychiatrist. The psychiatrist, across a two-year span, helps the young man change his self-concept and the young man's mistaken idea that he is a moron.
