The book of Colossians is one of four epistles written by the Apostle Paul during his Roman imprisonment, the other three books are: Ephesians, Philippians, and Philemon. Colosse was a city in Asia Minor located in the Lycus River Valley which is now western Turkey. It was about 100 miles east of Ephesus. Colosse formed a triangle with its two sister cities, Hierapolis and Laodicea (See Col.4:13-16). They both were located within a day's journey of Colosse. This was not a church that Paul had started during any of his missionary trips, but apparently it was founded through the preaching and teaching of Epaphras (Col.1:7). A verse by verse Commentary on the Book of James. James is the author of this epistle; thought to be written around 45 A.D. He is the half-brother of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt.13:55; Gal.1:19) and the full brother of Judas/Jude who wrote the book of Jude. James was a leader in the early church in Jerusalem (Acts 12:17; 21:18), also he was the moderator of the church council described in Acts 15. The book of James is known as a general epistle, called such because it was not addressed to any local church, but to believers in general (twelve tribes scattered abroad). It was most likely the first New Testament book to be written, but the last to be accepted into the canon of Scriptur ...

The book of Judges is the second of the Historical books in the Old Testament. It picks up where Joshua leaves off and continues the narrative. The time period covered in the book is approximately three hundred years. The author of the book is not given in the text, but it is believed by some Bible students that Samuel may have been the author. Yet others surmise that King Hezekiah or possibly Ezra could have written the manuscript. In the book of Judges we see a vicious cycle repeated over and over again. First the children of Israel rebel against the LORD through idolatry, then comes judgement for their sin, later they repent and turn back to the LORD, then finally God sends a Judge ...
