Doug Murray was a fixture in the Asheville Irish Traditional Music scene and led sessions in both Asheville and Black Mountain, NC. for eight years. The 130 manuscripts reproduced in this book are ones he transcribed from regional sessions as well as from a few teachers. Also included in the book are informative lecture notes from classes on Irish and Scottish music that he helped teach at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNCA.

The book includes the first two bars of 160 sets and over 400 tunes. Most sets and tunes have been played at some time in the afternoon Sunday session at Jack of the Wood. This is the list that I use when leading the session. Brotherhug.
