Natalia has only ever known the life of an orphan. She has been through many horrible things but despite all that she still considers herself lucky. She works as the defender of the lowlife. In the human capital of Azatan the Assembly doesn't have time to take care of the lowlife. Natalia has made it her job to protect them but with that job comes certain responsibilities that Natalia isn't prepared for. Responsibilities that might kill her.

A young girl named Jess and her father Russ living in the late 1800's in Minnesota settle on a small piece of land on the rugged banks of Lake Superior. Jess discovers and raises 2 orphaned timber wolf pups while befriending a young Ojibwa boy.
