Binding: Perfect Bound
Since Janet Turner’s arrival in 1959 and the formal institution of printmaking as a studio practice area within the Department of Art and Art History’s curriculum, faculty have been printing and the Turner Museum has been collecting! While not all the artist represented are solely printmakers, from their diverse studio practice they made graphic connections that expand our understanding of their image making or aesthetic intent. This survey, spurred by the recent passing of artists Richard Hornaday, James Kuiper, Ann Pierce and Claudia Steel, takes a historic look at printmaking revolving around the university setting and the artist/educators that contributed to its growth.
