I have used my formulated “integrated model” of anger management for counseling many aggressive male youth (in group or individual settings). These youth (ranging from 8-19 years of age) often were referred to me for their anger control difficulties. They were usually involved in the criminal subculture or the like. Success has been attested by the community counselors or psychologists that have these youth under their portfolio umbrellas. This course is titled “Communicating the Gospel,” for it pertains to public religious discourse. It is designed for both the preacher and the teacher. The course is broken into three modules. Module 1 The Science and Art of Communicating the Gospel defines proclamation, describes its function, and sets forth the elements that can make it effective. Module 2 Preparation analyzes the prospect of preaching from various texts, topics, and genres. Module 3 Presentation considers the role of media, delivery style, and personal character in effective preaching.

Whilst working on this topic The Lord had me research mountaineers and find parallels that would apply to the topic; parallels were marked. He further took me through the teaching preparation using that analogy. Mountaineers are different than ‘hikers’. The former are known: to face a multitude of risks and dangers; to be cognizant of impending dangers; to look out for their fellow man; to be fully equipped and physically fit; to appropriately navigate changes in weather; and, to have a grounded and highly skilled survival knowledge.
